I absolutely LOVE clubbercise and for me its the only way to kick start my week with going to a Monday night class! I can honestly say it puts a spring in my step and really does help me get through the challenges the week throw at me.
So what is Clubbercise? Taking a quote from the official webpage:
“Clubbercise® – simple, fun dance fitness routines using glow sticks to club anthems from 90′s classics to the latest chart hits taught in a darkened room with disco lights.
Because of the high and low impact options Clubbercise dance fitness classes are great if you’re a beginner or if you’re exercising regularly but looking for something different!”
So basically, it a party with your friends whilst getting a bit of exercise in – as the tag line says “A night out without the hangover“. We all dress in our brightest clothes, grab out glow stick, put some face paint on and dance our troubles away – just check out our group shot from one of our classes:
I’ve been going to Clubbercise for just over a year now and to be honest I can’t decide which I prefer, this or Zumba as they are both amazing dance work out classes where I just simply have fun and switch my mind off.
What I love most about these classes is the range of people who attend – my dad comes to all the same classes as me and I absolutely LOVE being able to spend time with him and my friends whilst trying to get healthier – to me there’s a great power in group exercise. There are people of all shapes and size, ages and abilities so no-one ever feels awkward, if you go wrong you just do your own thing – and in my experience everyone does go wrong at some point but there’s no judging, we just seem to laugh it off and go wrong together 🙂
This was a great option for me to add on to my already expanding classes and as my Monday night Piyo class was stopping this swap seemed to be the answer. Obviously this class isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea but if you like dance music from the 90s and on wards and like to have a bit of a dance then this could be for you.
As this is more of an aerobics dance class, I was concerned I may not be able to keep up with others but this class really is tailored to just about anyone. Our instructor is very hands on and makes sure to speak to anyone new before the class starts and will always show low and high options during the session.
Another bonus is how great the online social community is for clubbercise – it seems to be that it doesn’t matter what class you go to you get the same experience which is brilliant as I’ve not experienced that with other classes. The Clubbercise team are also very engaging online and I’d highly recommend giving them a following on facebook and instagram, they regularly post and do competition – I even won one this year:
So there you have it – a very brief overview but it really is one of those things that you need to try to experience it yourself .
