Life has felt full lately – school milestones, work, family adventures – and I realised it’s been a little while since I last posted here. But sometimes a short pause gives you space to notice the things that really matter, and for me one of those is the joy of supporting local.
We’re so lucky to live in an area where independent shops, restaurants, and community spaces are at the heart of everything. They’re the places where you’re greeted with a smile, where staff remember your little one’s favourite order, and where your money goes straight back into supporting local families.
For us, it’s not just about “shopping small,” it’s about creating memories. Whether it’s popping into a café after football, celebrating a family milestone over dinner, or spending an afternoon at the library – those little choices mean so much more than we realise.
Just the other week, we had the loveliest day together. We headed to Bardo Lounge for lunch, where the little Miss ordered pancakes (of course!) and the staff couldn’t have been sweeter with her. They really made a fuss, which turned a simple meal into something special. Afterwards, we wandered over to the library – a simple trip, but one of those wholesome afternoons where time feels slower and you can just soak it all in.
It reminded me how these local spots bring such warmth into family life. They’re more than places to eat or visit; they’re part of our community and part of our story. And the best bit? When we support them, we’re helping them keep going, so other families can enjoy those same experiences.
So, consider this the start of a little “Supporting Local” series here on the blog. I’d love to shine a light on more of the gems we’re lucky to have nearby – from restaurants to coffee shops, green spaces to family activities.
And I’d love to hear from you too – what’s your favourite local spot? Where should we visit next? Let’s keep this conversation going and give these amazing places the love they deserve.
